The
terrier and lurcher people of Ireland came in their
hundreds to the 2009 ground and running dog events at
Ballinlough Castle. We promise an even bigger and
better event in 2010 with prizes never offered at Irish
fair in the past. Justin Hill and his highly
respected Gilford Club will host the judging and racing
events at the 2010 Irish National Country Fair on
Sunday
1 August.
Sunday 1 August has been designated
as Ground & Running Dog Day at the Irish National
Country Fair. Judging and racing events for both
terriers and running dogs will commence at 11:00 and run
through until 17:00
Superb
1st Prize for top Terrier & Lurcher Handlers
Irish terrier and lurcher enthusiasts
will have the opportunity to win a fantastic, expense
paid trip to represent their Ireland at the Midland Game
Fair on 18 & 19 September 2010. The value is around
€700
each for the two top terrier and lurcher handlers at
Ballinlough Castle competitors in the . The winners will receive free ferry travel for a
car and two adults from an Irish port to GB, B&B
accommodation close to the Midland Game Fair and free
entry into the fair each day. In addition, Countryside
Alliance Ireland will give
€100 to the winners to help defray their expenses.
The top lurchers and terriers in all
the classes will be judged in the main arena on Sunday 1
August at Ballinlough Castle with the winners receiving
this fantastic prize. Winners of this prize at our
sister event, The National Countrysports Fair at Moira
Demesne on 29 & 30 May are ineligible for the top prize
at Ballinlough

The Irish Deerhound Society
will organise the deerhound racing and judging events as
part of the overall racing dog events at Ballinlough.
With more than 20 deerhounds from all parts of Ireland
competing in the 2009 this was one of the biggest turn
outs of the breed even seen at a country fair in
Ireland.
Renowned
Irish Ferreter Visits Fair
One of Ireland's best knows ferreters, Tony Carinduff,
will be at the National Country Fair on both days.
Located on the Irish Shooter's Digest stand, Tony will
have a number of mature and young ferrets with him and
offer a wealth of advice of ferret training and welfare. |
