Irish Gundogs
The Irish National Country
Fair has succeeded in
emulating its sister
event in Northern
Ireland, the National
Countrysports Fair, with the quality of its gundog events. With
competitions to suit all levels of competitors and
their dogs, along with
demonstrations from Ireland's top international
handlers, this event is truly unsurpassed in Ireland.
The area around the lough at Ballinlough Castle is the
ideal setting for the retriever and spaniel working
tests that will run over the two-days at the National
Country Fair.
The Mohill Gundog Club
from Co. Leitrim will
organise all the
retriever events at the
fair, while the North
Tipperary Spaniel Club will host the spaniel events.
Top judges from N. Ireland and the Republic of
Ireland will oversee the proceedings, assisted by some
of Ireland's top gundog commentators.
The All-Ireland
International Gundog Challenge
Retriever and
spaniel teams representing the Irish Republic and
Northern Ireland will continue with their
clash
to claim the title of All-Ireland Champions when the second
leg of this exciting event is staged at Ballinlough Castle
on Saturday 31 July 2010.
Scores from the first leg, run at the National Countrysports
Fair in Northern Ireland on Saturday 29 May, will carry-over and be added to the
overall team and individual scores
at this event.
The
All-Ireland Gundog Challenge title will be bestowed on the team with the highest
aggregate score. This event will be run as a "Mixed
Pair" competition with spaniel and retriever handlers from
the respective countries competing as a pair of gundogs such
as would be seen in the shooting field. Once again
commentary from top Irish handlers will make this an event
not to be missed. Billed as Ireland's top
International Gundog event
this is a competition not to
be missed!
